My Trading Journey

My name is Derrick C.K. Lee and I am a active Trader, Investor & Businessman. And just in case you don't know me personally, which probably would be the case. Here' s a brief introduction of myself.

As far as I can remember, I have been "In Business" all my life. Ever since I graduated from University with a double degree in Information Technology & Economics, I did not join a large Multi-National Company like my fellow graduates.

Instead, I pursued a much different path from the rest of the pack, I started off my career by going directly into "Business", very much influenced by Robert Kiyosaki' s book "Rich Dad Poor Dad".

Being "Self-Employed" isn't easy in the initial stages, but it sure beats having a "Boss" hovering behind your back constatnly barking orders at you.

Luckily for me, I managed to overcame the odds and started my own marketing and printing business with the help and support of my family.

However, as with all self-employed business owners, working long hours is inevitable and sometimes we got to get our hand dirty and do the work ourselves when the need arises.

Although business can be good at times, it sure takes a toll when the workload increases, leaving you less time to spend on the more important things in life.

And for me, the most important thing now is being there for my daughter especially in her initial growing up years. One of the greatest regrets in life is not being able to spend enough time with her, especially when she took her first step or when she said her first words.

This prompted me to begin exploring other aspects of doing business beyond the traditional brick and motor business model.

During the course of my research, I found that the internet is growing at such an exponential rate, much faster than any aspiring offline business could ever compete with.

And with an online business model, there are so many ways people can make a living using the internet, be it selling stuff on E-Bay, Internet Marketing or even Trading Shares, Stocks, Futures & Currencies.

With the advent of high speed, low cost internet infrastructure, many online trading opportunities have sprouted up and these have indeed created new hope and endless opportunities for those who wish to make a living trading from the comfort of their homes.

 

Making A Living With Mulitple Sources Of Income

My First Income Stream - My Offline Business

Before my online trading endeavors took off, my self start-up "Brick & Mortar" marketing company was the main bread & butter of my income. Nowadays, I only service regular clients who are good pay masters, no point having tons of business contracts when nobody pays on time right?

Most of the time, I usually spend the first half of my day in the office planning and dishing out work schedules. My secret lies in proper time and resource management. The key is to outsource the "Tedious" aspect of this offline business model to reliable 3^rd party sub contractors.

My main work scope is to plan and organize so that my guys know what needs to be done and things can proceed smoothly without a hitch.

My Second Income Stream - My Trading Business

I always believed that trading and investments are the key instruments to accumulating immense wealth. That is why over the 5 years, I have attended numerous investment and trading course in a bid to increase my knowledge on the various financial instruments that has made people like Warren Buffets & George Soros billionaires in the investment arena.

In the initial stages, I began my trading business in the Futures Market, unfortunately, the timing to trade the US market is turned "Upside Down" when you are living in Singapore. It has somehow made trading futures a tat more difficult if you are working in the day, and everyone needs their fair share of ZZZ's right?.

Luckily, I came to know about Forex Trading through the local newspaper, where I instantly got hooked as one can trade the currecny markets anywhere in the world, anytime of the day.

This certainly came as a piece of great news for me as I can now trade in the comfort of my home and spend more time with my family.

 

Successful Trading Experiences

To date, I have attended more than 5 different trading courses in the local Singapore market and while all these courses has its pros and cons, most of them focuses mainly on the trading methodologies and strategies as that is generally what a typical trader eagerly to make a killing in the trading areana wants to learn.

On the contary, what I realised from experience is that the most important aspect of trading successfully lies not in the trading strategy alone but the "State Of Mind" of the trader at the time of trade as well as the backend support one recieves after the actual course has ended.

In my book, the main reason so many traders fail lies in the fact that they are too eager to make "Fast & Easy" money from trading instead of treating it as a form of business or investment.

Haven't we all heard of the "Tortise & Hare" story? Slow & Steady wins the race, and this is precisely what separates successful traders from the medicore ones.
